We left the motel in Rapid City, SD at 8:45 for Deadwood, SD.
We had a 1 1/2 hour bus tour of the cities of Deadwood and Lead, SD. We had an outstanding guide.
In Lead we visited the Sanford Lab Homestake Center. There the guide told us the history of gold mining in Lead and we see saw very large open pit where they mined gold in the past.
Then we had several hours free time in Deadwood and had lunch in Saloon 10 - the place Wild Bill Hickok was shot. We saw a reenactment of his shooting.
We then visited the High Plains Western Heritage Center in Spearfish, SD. This was a very good western museum with many displays.
We had a buffet supper at Pizza Ranch in Sturgis, SD. before returning to the motel in Rapid City, SD.
