After leaving the motel in Rapid City around 8:45, we went to Fort Hays a few minutes away. There we picked up a tour guide. He was a very good guide and was with us on our bus all day as we toured Keystone, Mt. Rushmore, and Custer State Park.
In Keystone we visited the Borglum Historical Center. Borglum was the man that carved Mt. Rushmore. They gave us a headset and audio player that told about each of the display. We also toured main street and shopped some.
We then went on to Mt. Rushmore. We viewed the monument, shopped a little, and had lunch there.
Our guide then took us around for a profile view of the monument.
Then we rode through Custer State Park for about four hours. We stopped at the visitor center where saw a very good video about the history of the park. We also stopped at a General Store.
As we rode we saw hundreds of buffalo, several antelope, some prairie dogs, and some deer.
We then went back to Fort Hays for a chuckwagon meal, which was served on tin plates, and entertainment which was a western musician show. They put on a very good show.
Then we returned to the motel.
